The most interesting review activity I use with the advanced group is writing a text. At the end of each unit in the CB there is a list of the target vocabulary items, about 55 words. Pupils are given time to self-test by writing the L1 meaning of the words they remember. They must not use their vocabulary notebooks. They are asked to put aside the words they do not remember. They are told to write a grade that presents the number of words they remember out of the whole list. I ask some pupils about their grade. Later on, I orally go over the words meaning. I sometimes ask pupils about some words definition, opposite and word family. After we go through the whole list, I do a competition among the pupils. The competition is to use as many words from the list as they can in a text. Surprisingly, I had two girls who managed to use the 55 words in a text. I gave two extra points to these girls.
